SHIATSU
Lynn Southam MRSS
Shiatsu is a deeply supportive and relaxing therapy which can alleviate physical discomfort and address emotional issues. Channels or Meridians, of Chi flow are treated with gentle pressure and stretching techniques and use of the breath may be incorporated. Principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine are also a consideration and advice may be offered on simple lifestyle or dietary changes based on this ancient wisdom.
Treatment is received through loose clothing and it is recommended that comfortable, preferably cotton clothes are worn. A sweatshirt and jogging bottoms are ideal. Treatment is usually given on a soft mat or Futon at floor level. This is a very supportive place from which to receive treatment, facilitating stretching or manipulation without risk of falling. However if the need arises, shiatsu can be given on a couch or seat.
Lynn lives in Cheddar, a thriving village under the Mendip hills. Having graduated from the Shiatsu College (Bristol) in 1999 she completed her Post-Graduate training in Italy. Lynn runs a private practice, offers wok-place treatments and has experience of working with drug rehabilitation patients and adults with severe learning difficulties.
